Halitha Shameem

Rather than recast the young actors of Minmini, Halitha Shameem waited seven years for them to grow into the older versions of their characters. She shot the first half in 2015 and the second in 2022, with the same cast. From Dharapuram, the director, screenwriter and editor works mostly in Tamil cinema. She assisted on films including Oram Po (2007) before directing her first feature, Poovarasam Peepee, in 2014. More than five years passed before the anthology Sillu Karupatti (2019), which critics and audiences both received well. Aelay (2021), which came next, streams on Netflix.
