Prithviraj Sukumaran

Director Fazil introduced a young Prithviraj Sukumaran to Ranjith, and Ranjith cast him as the lead in Nandanam (2002), his first film. Acting ran in the family. He was born in Thiruvananthapuram to the actors Sukumaran and Mallika Sukumaran, and his elder brother, Indrajith Sukumaran, also acts in films. Today he is an actor, director, producer and playback singer, with Malayalam cinema at the centre of his career. The start was rocky. A few early releases failed at the box office before Classmates (2006) turned things around, and Vaasthavam made him the youngest actor to receive the Kerala State Film Award for Best Actor. He won it again for Ayalum Njanum Thammil (2012) and Celluloid (2013), and also holds a National Film Award, a Tamil Nadu State Film Award and two Filmfare Awards South. He has acted in more than 100 films. Production came in 2010, followed later by his own banner, Prithviraj Productions, and he directed for the first time with Lucifer (2019), acting in it as well. Mumbai Police (2013), Ennu Ninte Moideen (2015), Ayyappanum Koshiyum (2020), Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire (2023) and Aadujeevitham – The Goat Life (2024) are among his key credits. His 2026 releases were Vysakh's action drama Khalifa, which he led, and Meghna Gulzar's Hindi thriller Daayra, opposite Kareena Kapoor Khan. Ahead are Kumbha in S. S. Rajamouli's Varanasi, due on 7 April 2027, and Rahul Sadasivan's Odiyan: The Age of Illusion, which he is co-producing and acting in alongside Manju Warrier.
