Lucifer (2019)
Lucifer is a Malayalam political action thriller that marked Prithviraj Sukumaran's debut as a director, working from an original screenplay by Murali Gopy. The story opens on two fronts. In Lyon, an Interpol officer begins examining a secret society after receiving a message from the CIA. In Kerala, the death of Chief Minister P. K. Ramdas leaves his position open, and activist Govardhan (Indrajith Sukumaran) alleges that a financial syndicate had controlled Ramdas, naming five possible successors and singling out Stephen Nedumpally (Mohanlal) as the most dangerous of them. Manju Warrier plays Ramdas's daughter Priyadarshini, and Vivek Oberoi plays her husband Bimal 'Bobby' Nair. Prithviraj also appears as Zayed Masood, with Kalabhavan Shajohn, Saikumar, Baiju and Saniya Iyappan in supporting roles. Antony Perumbavoor produced the film under Aashirvad Cinemas, with music by Deepak Dev and cinematography by Sujith Vaassudev. It was shot in locations including Thiruvananthapuram, Idukki, Kochi, Mumbai and Lakshadweep. Lucifer released in theatres in March 2019, began streaming on Prime Video in May 2019 and is part of the Lucifer Universe franchise.
