Salaar: Part 1 - Ceasefire (2023)

Salaar: Part 1 - Ceasefire is a 2023 Telugu action film directed by Prashanth Neel and produced under Hombale Films. In 1985, Deva and Vardha are close friends in Khansaar, a city-state ruled by Vardha's father Raja Mannar (Jagapati Babu). When Raja Mannar orders the Shouryaanga tribe wiped out, Vardha gives up territory to save Deva and his mother (Easwari Rao) and helps them escape, and Deva promises to return whenever he is called. The story then jumps to 2017, when Aadhya (Shruti Haasan), a non-resident Indian, travels to Varanasi and becomes the target of an abduction. Prabhas plays Devaratha, and Prithviraj Sukumaran, Bobby Simha, Sriya Reddy and John Vijay round out the principal cast. Originally planned as a single film, Salaar was announced as a two-part story in July 2023, and its storyline was pitched from Neel's 2014 Kannada debut Ugramm. Ravi Basrur composes the music and Ujwal Kulkarni edits. Filming took 114 working days across locations including Godavarikhani, Hyderabad, Matera, Naples, Rome and Budapest. The film released in December 2023 and streams on Netflix in Telugu, Kannada, Tamil and Malayalam.
