Kamalinee Mukherjee

Her first film was in Hindi: Revathi cast Kamalinee Mukherjee as a radio jockey in Phir Milenge (2004), a film about AIDS. Telugu cinema, though, is where most of her work lies, with a handful of Malayalam and Tamil films besides. Born on 4 March 1984 and raised in Kolkata, she acted in school and college stage plays and trained in Bharatanatyam for several years. She took an English literature degree from Loreto College, Kolkata, studied hotel management briefly in New Delhi, and left that for a theatre course in Mumbai. Sekhar Kammula saw her in an advertisement and chose her for the Telugu film Anand (2004). The role won her the Nandi Award for Best Leading Actress and two best debutante awards. Meenakshi (2005) came after. In 2006 she acted in the Telugu films Style and Godavari, the latter another Kammula film in which her performance was praised, and made her Tamil debut in Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu. In Malayalam, she played Myna, the wife of Mohanlal's title character, in Pulimurugan (2016).
