Poornima Indrajith

Seventeen years after Dany (2001), Poornima Indrajith came back to cinema with Virus (2019). The film was well received by critics, did well at the box office and was later included in The Hindu's list of the 25 best Malayalam films of the decade. Born Poornima Mohan, the actress, producer and television presenter works mostly in Malayalam. She was raised in a Tamil-speaking family settled in Kerala and is a Mass Communications graduate of St. Teresa's College, Kochi. Her younger sister, Priya Mohan, is also an actress. Her first screen appearance was as a child in Onnu Muthal Poojyam Vare (1986). She worked as a model, became known through the Tamil television serial Kolangal, and then acted in a number of Malayalam serials. From the mid-1990s she took supporting roles in films such as Valliettan (2000), Meghamalhar (2001) and Randam Bhavam (2001), until Dany began the long break. She is married to actor Indrajith Sukumaran, which places her in the acting family of Sukumaran and Mallika Sukumaran, with Prithviraj Sukumaran as her brother-in-law. She has a role in Akka, an upcoming Hindi series for Netflix.
