DC (2026)
DC is a Tamil action crime drama directed by Arun Matheswaran, who co-wrote it with Arun Ranjan and Franklin Jacob, and it gives Lokesh Kanagaraj his first lead role as an actor. Lokesh plays Devadas, or Das, a man disowned by his father (Kasthuri Raja). After he kills a corrupt policeman who murdered a poor farmer and took his savings, Das goes on the run. Along the way he frees Chandra (Wamiqa Gabbi), who has been held in a brothel for 16 years, and together with his friends he sets out to return the farmer's money and confront the corrupt officers. The film loosely reworks the Devadas story, with a romance set amid the violence. Sanjana Krishnamoorthy plays Parvathy and Srikrishna Dayal plays Bhojraj. Kalanithi Maran produces under Sun Pictures, with music by Anirudh Ravichander, cinematography by Mukesh G and editing by Prasanna GK. DC released in theatres in August 2026 and began streaming on Sun NXT in September 2026.
