Anil Ravipudi

Anil Ravipudi wrote dialogue for other people's films before he directed his own. Born on 23 November 1982 in Prakasam district, Andhra Pradesh, he finished a B.Tech in 2005 and became an assistant director to his uncle P. A. Arun Prasad. Dialogue credits followed on films including Sankham (2009) and Kandireega (2011), and he co-wrote Masala (2013) and Aagadu (2014). Pataas (2015), produced by and starring Nandamuri Kalyan Ram, was his first film as director and won him the SIIMA Award for Best Debut Director – Telugu. Action comedy has been his main mode. Supreme (2016) and Raja the Great (2017) came next, then F2: Fun and Frustration (2019), screened in the Indian Panorama mainstream section at the 50th IFFI. From there the Telugu director and screenwriter moved towards family entertainers built on quick dialogue, humour and action, with themes of relationships and the role of women. Sarileru Neekevvaru (2020) drew large audiences, and Bhagavanth Kesari (2023) won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Telugu. Both his Sankranti releases, Sankranthiki Vasthunam (2025) and Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu (2026), were box-office hits. January 12 Vidudala, due in 2027, has Kalyan Ram in the lead and Keerthy Suresh as Latha Reddy.
