Aasha (2026)

Aasha is a Malayalam suspense drama directed by Safar Sanal, his first feature, from a screenplay he wrote with Joju George and Ramesh Girija. Aasha (Urvashi) is a short-tempered woman given to sudden outbursts. She calls her elder daughter in the UAE often and shares her home with her younger daughter (Aishwarya Lekshmi). Early on she is seen creating a scene at a bank, and the film builds its tension around her temperament. An unexpected accident then triggers a series of events that bring her face to face with a character played by Joju George. Vijayaraghavan, Joy Mathew, Ajayan Adat, Ramesh Girija, Lakshmi Menon and Bhagyalakshmi are also in the cast. The film marks Urvashi's return to the big screen after her National Award-winning work in Ullozhukku. It is produced under Ajith Vinayaka Films, with music by Govind Vasanth, cinematography by Madhu Neelakandan and editing by Shan Muhammed. Aasha released in theatres in September 2026 and streams on ZEE5 from 16 October 2026 in Malayalam, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Kannada.
