Baththa (2026)
Baththa is a Tamil film written and directed by Balaji Tharaneetharan. Set in the 1980s, it centres on Baththa (Vijay Sethupathi), a gangster whose bloody reputation travels ahead of him. His story takes a turn when, during the summer holidays, a frightened boy named Sabari (Master Sai Prithviraj) locks him inside a school toilet. Lijomol Jose plays his wife Kannima and Baby Sahasra Shree plays his daughter Thenmozhi, with Santhy Balachandran as Selvi, Hari Krishnan as Thirunavukarasu and Deepa Venkat as the wife of the gangster Pedda Kondaiah. The film mixes gangster action and humour with a thread of love and redemption. Baththa is the third collaboration between Sethupathi and Tharaneetharan after Naduvula Konjam Pakkatha Kaanom (2012) and Seethakaathi (2018), and it is presented by Atlee. Cine1 Studios and A For Apple Studios produce, Sai Abhyankkar composes the score, Selva Kumar S.K. is the cinematographer and R. Kalaivanan edits. The film released in theatres in October 2026.
