Ordinary (2012)

Ordinary is a Malayalam comedy thriller directed by Sugeeth, set along a KSRTC bus route between Pathanamthitta and the hill village of Gavi. Iravi Kuttan Pillai (Kunchacko Boban), a newly appointed conductor from Thrissur, is posted to the route with driver Suku (Biju Menon) from Palakkad, and the two settle into village life, where Iravi's romance with Kalyani (Shritha Sivadas) also takes shape. Among the locals are Anna (Ann Augustine), a postwoman, Jose Mash (Jishnu Raghavan), panchayat member Venu Mash (Lalu Alex) and Bhadran (Asif Ali). One night the bus breaks down, and with Suku too drunk to drive, Iravi takes the wheel. In fog and darkness the bus strikes a man; the pair send the injured man off in a pickup truck and decide to call it a hit-and-run, a choice that sets the rest of the story in motion. Rajeev Nair, who also wrote the lyrics, produced the film under Magic Moon Productions, and Vidyasagar composed the music. It was Sugeeth's first film as director and Shritha Sivadas's screen debut, and it released in theatres in March 2012.
