Biju Menon

Television serials gave Biju Menon his start, among them Ningalude Swantham Chanthu and Mikhayelinte Santhathikal. The big screen followed with Puthran (1995), Jude Attipetty's first film and a follow-up to that serial. Born in Thrissur in 1970, he studied at J.T.S. Technical High School, took a commerce degree from St. Thomas College in the same city and later added a master's in Social Work. Malayalam cinema is his base, with a handful of Tamil, Telugu and Kannada credits. Through the late 1990s and early 2000s he was often the villain or second lead, in hits such as Pathram and F. I. R. with Suresh Gopi, and in Azhakiya Ravanan (1996). In Tamil he played antagonists in Majaa and Thambi. He has worked in most of Lal Jose's films. From 2010 he leaned towards comedy: Marykkundoru Kunjaadu, Run Baby Run, Vellimoonga, Ayyappanum Koshiyum (2020) and Ordinary (2012), in which he played the KSRTC driver Suku. More than 150 films have brought him a National Film Award for Best Supporting Actor and three Kerala State Film Awards: Second Best Actor for Krishnagudiyil Oru Pranayakalathu and for T. D. Dasan Std. VI B, and Best Actor for Aarkkariyam in 2021. He played police officer Jayashankar in Thalavan (2024), and Avaraachan and Sons, with him in the title role, is now running in theatres.
