Thalavan (2024)

Thalavan is a Malayalam crime thriller directed by Jis Joy and released in theatres in May 2024. Retired DySP Udayabhanu (Dileesh Pothan), who hosts a television show retelling crime cases from his career, reluctantly takes up the Cheppanamthotta case, which involved CI Jayashankar (Biju Menon) and SI Karthik (Asif Ali). In flashback, Karthik frees Manu Das, who was being held in an attempted murder case, and the decision strains his relationship with the more pragmatic Jayashankar. Jayashankar then finds the body of Ramya (Anusree) on his terrace and is arrested for her murder, though there is no direct evidence against him. Mia George plays Sunitha, Jayashankar's wife, with Shankar Ramakrishnan, Ranjith, Kottayam Nazeer, Jaffar Idukki, Sujith Shankar, Tessa Joseph and Dinesh Prabhakar in the cast. The screenplay is by debutant writers Anand Thevarkatt and Sharath Perumbavoor, and Jis Joy had earlier worked with Asif Ali on four films. The film is produced under the Arun Narayan Productions and London Studios banners.
