Vysakh

Television came first for Ebbey Abraham. He first used the name Vysakh as the anchor of Ponpulari, a programme on Surya TV. Born on 1 June 1980 at Kalliot in Kanhangad, Kasaragod district, he then trained as an associate director, under Johny Antony on CID Moosa, Kochi Rajavu, Thuruppugulan and Inspector Garud, and under Joshiy on Naran, Twenty:20 and Robin Hood. His debut as an independent director, the 2010 action film Pokkiri Raja with Mammootty and Prithviraj Sukumaran, was the biggest Malayalam grosser of that year. Seniors and Mallu Singh (2012) came next. He wrote as well as directed Vishudhan (2013), then made Cousins (2014). His best-known film, Pulimurugan (2016), a Mohanlal action drama co-starring Jagapathi Babu, became the first Malayalam film to gross around Rs 100 crore and later passed Rs 150 crore. Madhura Raja (2019), the follow-up to Pokkiri Raja, also crossed Rs 100 crore worldwide. Night Drive, Monster (2022) and the Mammootty film Turbo followed. His 2026 film, Khalifa, an action drama starring Prithviraj Sukumaran, is now streaming on several platforms. Marking Pulimurugan's tenth anniversary, he recalled shooting with real tigers and said a sequel would need the right script.
