Drishyam 3 has become the fifth Malayalam film to cross ₹10 crore in worldwide pre-sales for its opening weekend, joining Odiyan, Marakkar, L2: Empuraan and Patriot in that group. Notably, it is the first non-action film to reach that mark, with advance tickets selling quickly across both domestic and overseas markets ahead of release.
A non-action film leading pre-sales
Where big pre-sales numbers usually belong to large action films, this thriller has relied on the strength of the franchise and Mohanlal’s draw. In Kerala, the film has already taken over ₹4 crore for its opening day, and it reached the ₹20 lakh mark in the state in 6 minutes and 12 seconds — the second-fastest a Malayalam film has done so, behind L2: Empuraan. Overseas demand has also been strong, with US premieres beginning on May 20.
The conclusion of the saga
Releasing on May 21, 2026, the film looks set to challenge existing opening-day records. Directed by Jeethu Joseph, this third installment brings back the original family cast, including Meena, Ansiba Hassan and Esther Anil. Joseph has said the film leans heavily into Georgekutty’s inner fear and emotional state as the story reaches its conclusion.
