Drishyam Gets an Indonesian Remake as Drishyam 3 Runs in Theatres

While Drishyam 3 is still running in theatres and crossing box office milestones, the franchise’s global reach just extended further. An official Indonesian adaptation of the original Drishyam story has been confirmed, as reported by Variety, making it the first dedicated Malayalam film remake for Indonesian audiences.

The film has been titled Ayah, Aku Mau Cerita — which translates to Dad, I Want to Tell You — and is scheduled for a nationwide theatrical release in Indonesia on August 20, 2026. Director Danial Rifki will helm the adaptation, with the narrative expected to be localised to suit Indonesian cultural and social contexts while retaining the core suspense and emotional structure that has made Georgekutty’s story travel so well across languages.

The Cast

The lead roles go to real-life Indonesian celebrity couple Vino G. Bastian and Marsha Timothy — a casting choice that mirrors the franchise’s consistent strategy of anchoring each remake in familiar, emotionally resonant local stars. Bastian steps into the Georgekutty role — the ordinary family man driven to extraordinary measures to protect his own. Timothy plays the investigator working to unravel the truth. The supporting cast includes Niken Anjani, Ziva Magnolya, Gunawan, and Pritt Timothy.

Where Drishyam 3 Stands

Back home, Drishyam 3 collected ₹11.05 crore net in India on Day 2, per Sacnilk — a natural drop from the ₹15.85 crore opening day but a solid hold across 4,886 shows. The two-day India net total stands at ₹26.90 crore, with India gross at ₹31.18 crore. The worldwide figure crossed ₹100 crore within 58 hours of release.

Drishyam has now been officially adapted in Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, Kannada, Chinese, Korean, and Malayalam itself — and August will add Indonesian to that list. A story about a man who outsmarts a system designed to expose him continues, somehow, to find new audiences who want to watch him do it.
