Manjummel Boys (2024)

Manjummel Boys is a Malayalam thriller-drama written and directed by Chidambaram, based on a 2006 incident at the Guna Caves in Kodaikanal. A group of friends from Manjummel, near Kochi, set off on a trip to Kodaikanal, and on the way home they stop at the caves. Brushing aside warnings, they wander into a restricted section, where Subhash (Sreenath Bhasi) falls into a deep fissure known as the Devil's Kitchen. What follows is the group's frantic effort to find help, including a tense encounter with the police, with Siju David, known as Kuttan (Soubin Shahir), and Sixon John (Balu Varghese) among the friends at the centre of it. The ensemble also includes Ganapathi S Poduval, Jean Paul Lal, Deepak Parambol, Khalidh Rahman and Arun Kurian. Soubin Shahir also produced the film under Parava Films. Sushin Shyam composed the music, Shyju Khalid handled the cinematography and Vivek Harshan edited it. About 90 per cent of the cave scenes were filmed on a replica built inside a warehouse in Perumbavoor. Released in theatres in February 2024, it began streaming on Disney+ Hotstar in May 2024.
