Arun Gopy's second film as a producer has finished shooting before his first one has reached theatres. The untitled comedy thriller starring Saiju Kurup as private detective Chandikunju wrapped recently after a shoot of more than 40 days in and around Kochi. Arjun Ashokan's Mel Cow Pondicherry, the first film from Arun Gopy Excitement, is yet to be released.

From pooja to pack-up
The film began with a pooja at the Anjumana Devi temple in Edappally on September 7. Producer Antony Perumbavoor switched on the camera and Nitesh Nair gave the first clap. Filming stayed in Kochi and nearby locations through the schedule.
Mel Cow Pondicherry, the Ramaleela director's first production, was already in the final stages of post-production when this shoot began. Two names connect the films: Althaf Salim acts in both, and Saneesh Stanley shot both.
A full comedy for Saiju
The story follows Chandikunju as he takes on a case and investigates it, and the makers call the film a comedy thriller from start to finish. The role is a change of tone for Saiju, who played the police officer leading a death investigation in Aaram, his latest release. He is also in the cast of the campus film Prempatta, due on November 27.
Dhyan Sreenivasan has a key role alongside him. Dhyan also led Sagar's 2022 crime thriller Veekam, and Sagar followed Veekam with the Indrans and Murali Gopy drama Kanakarajyam in 2024.
The cast
Saikumar, Althaf Salim, Harisree Ashokan, Sudheesh, Abhiram Radhakrishnan, Madhupal, Jayakrishnan and Riya Jithu are in the cast. Music director Shaan Rahman takes an acting role, alongside Rajesh Sharma, Shaju Sreedhar, Akhil (Pan Indian), Shameer Khan, Vincy Aloshious, Alphy Panjikaran, Uthara Unni and Sreerekha.
Sanal Dev composes the music, Saneesh Stanley is the cinematographer and Ratheesh Raj edits the film. The title and release date have not been announced.
