Filmmaker Priyadarshan recently shared a photo on social media from a meeting with cricketer Sanju Samson, calling it a “proud moment.” “As a Malayali and a cricket lover, I feel proud to stand beside Sanju Samson for a picture,” the director wrote, in a post that struck a chord with fans given Samson’s strong run in international cricket.
A high point for Samson
The meeting comes with Samson at the top of his game. Following India’s T20 World Cup wins in 2024 and 2026 — the latter earning him the Player of the Tournament award — he has cemented his standing in the sport. He currently leads Chennai Super Kings in the IPL and remains a key figure for the Kerala state side.

Priyadarshan, meanwhile, continues to work steadily across more than 90 films in Malayalam and Hindi. He recently returned to horror-comedy with Bhooth Bangla, starring Akshay Kumar, built around a curse and a spirit named Vadhusur — territory familiar from his 2007 hit Bhool Bhulaiyaa. From classics like Chithram and Kilukkam to his later Hindi hits, his career has stretched from the early 1980s to the present, and his public support for Samson reflects a shared Kerala connection that resonated with fans.
