Ramayana: Makers To Dub Sai Pallavi’s Voice after Criticism for her Tamil accented Hindi in Ek Din

The upcoming Ramayana is the subject of fresh discussion over its lead actress, Sai Pallavi. Reports from May 12, 2026, suggest the makers may dub her voice for the role of Sita, following online criticism of her Hindi accent during the promotions of her Hindi debut, Ek Din.

Her performance in Ek Din drew praise, though some viewers noted her regional accent. In that film, however, her character was written as a Tamilian, so the accent fit. Ramayana is a large-scale mythological epic, and the team reportedly wants the dialogue to feel more neutral and polished given the project’s pan-Indian scope and Sita’s central place in the story.

A respected casting choice

Whatever the decision on dubbing, Sai Pallavi remains one of the country’s most respected performers, and her casting as Sita was widely welcomed for her natural screen presence. Any move to dub her voice would be a strategic one tied to the film’s language requirements rather than a reflection on her performance. Lead actor Ranbir Kapoor, meanwhile, is preparing for a double role as Rama and Parshurama.

Fans divided

The reports split opinion online. Some argued that Sai Pallavi’s own voice carries an emotional quality that dubbing might lose, while others felt that on a film of this scale and budget, every detail — including diction — should be as polished as possible. It’s a familiar debate for South Indian stars moving into high-profile Hindi films. Ramayana is scheduled to release on November 8, 2026.
