Indian fans will get to see Spider-Man: Brand New Day a day before much of the world. Sony Pictures India has confirmed that the film will open in Indian theatres on Thursday, July 30, 2026, ahead of the international wide release on Friday, July 31. The studio is also opening advance bookings unusually early — about a week from the announcement — giving fans roughly 50 days to lock in seats.
The early window is partly a response to how well the previous film, Spider-Man: No Way Home, performed in India, and partly an attempt to ease the load on booking apps that tend to struggle with demand. The 38th MCU film is releasing in six languages here: English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada.
An older, more isolated Peter Parker
The story picks up four years after the memory-erasing spell at the end of No Way Home, in which Doctor Strange made the world forget Peter Parker. Tom Holland’s Parker is now an adult living alone in a small New York apartment, working as an anonymous vigilante after deliberately removing himself from the lives of the people he loves to keep them safe.
That isolation comes with a complication: the constant strain of his nightly crime-fighting begins to trigger a dangerous change in his powers. At the same time, a coordinated wave of street-level crime pulls him toward a set of comic-book adversaries, including Frank Castle (The Punisher), the crime boss Tombstone and Mac Gargan (Scorpion), along with the ninja group known as The Hand.
A new director and a deep cast
The film is directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, who previously made Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, working from a script by Chris McKenna, Erik Sommers and Challengers writer Justin Kuritzkes. Cretton has talked about a grittier, more street-level tone, leaning on practical stunt work alongside the visual effects.
Zendaya returns as MJ and Jacob Batalon as Ned Leeds, while Stranger Things star Sadie Sink joins in a closely guarded new role. Jon Bernthal reprises the Punisher, Michael Mando returns as Scorpion, and Mark Ruffalo appears as Bruce Banner.
Theatres are planning 2D, 3D and IMAX screenings. The film is also positioned as a bridge into the next big crossover, Avengers: Doomsday, due in December 2026, which is set to feature Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom and Chris Evans. With localized trailers already drawing strong interest, Brand New Day is shaping up as one of the summer’s biggest releases.
