Roshan Basheer

Roshan Basheer has played the same character in three languages. He was Varun Prabhakar, the young villain of Jeethu Joseph's thriller Drishyam (2013), and the role became his breakthrough; he reprised it in the Telugu remake Drushyam (2014) and in Papanasam (2015), the Tamil remake starring Kamal Haasan. Born on 28 June 1991, he hails from Kuttiady in Kozhikode district. His father, Kalanthan Basheer, acts, directs short films and produces. Plus Two, a 2010 coming-of-age story in which he was one of the leads, started his film career. Banking Hours (2012) followed, then two 2013 releases, Tourist Home and Red Wine. He has since been a lead in Tamil films such as Kubera Rasi and Moondru Rasigargal, and he keeps working in Malayalam, Telugu and Tamil. Band of Brothers, his upcoming Malayalam film, is a drama thriller scripted and directed by Bijoy P.I. and produced by Vanimahal Creations, with Rahul Rajagopal as his co-lead. It is another collaboration with Bijoy P.I., and its first-look poster came out in October 2026.
