Veteran Malayalam actor Indrans, known for his effortless comic timing and relatable everyman roles, has delivered a standout performance in the Suriya‑starrer Karuppu, directed by RJ Balaji. One line from the film — “Google Pay panna theriyadhu” (I don’t know how to use Google Pay) — has become a viral sensation, resonating deeply with audiences. In a recent interview, Indrans revealed that the dialogue is rooted in real life: he genuinely does not know how to use Google Pay even today.

The actor explained that he only recently bought a smartphone, and even that decision came at the gentle urging of veteran superstar Mammootty. “I still don’t know how to use Google Pay. Honestly, I really don’t,” Indrans said with characteristic candor. He recounted how Mammootty once called him for a personal matter, but Indrans’s son would always answer the phone on his behalf, since Indrans had been sharing his son’s number with everyone. “My son would reply to messages for me. So Mammootty sir told my son, ‘Put your father on the phone. If I need to tell him something confidential, can I tell you?’ He asked me why I wasn’t using a phone myself. That’s when I finally bought one. Even now, I don’t know how to use it properly,” Indrans shared, eliciting smiles from fans who appreciate his refreshing honesty.
Karuppu success
Meanwhile, Karuppu has crossed the ₹ 300 crore mark at the global box office, marking Suriya’s triumphant return after a 13‑year drought without a major theatrical hit. The actor’s previous releases — Kanguva (2024) and Retro (2025) — had failed to meet expectations, making Karuppu’s success all the more significant. The film opened to a net collection of ₹ 15.50 crore on its first day in India and raced past Suriya’s previous biggest earner, Singam 2, in just four days. Performances by Suriya, Indrans, Trisha, Anagha and others have drawn widespread praise, as has Sai Abhyankar’s music, which has become a talking point among audiences and critics alike.
Indrans’s simple confession about technology has only endeared him further to fans, many of whom see his humility and reluctance to embrace modern gadgets as a charming reflection of a bygone generation. The actor’s honesty, combined with Karuppu’s resounding box‑office victory, has made for a memorable chapter in recent Malayalam and Tamil cinema history.
