Uyare (2019)

Uyare is a Malayalam drama directed by Manu Ashokan, his first feature, from a story by Bobby & Sanjay. Pallavi Raveendran (Parvathy Thiruvothu) is an aviation student in Mumbai who ends her relationship with her boyfriend, and he retaliates by throwing acid at her. The attack leaves her disfigured, damages her eyesight and costs her the pilot licence she has worked for. The film follows how she survives the aftermath and fights to return to flying, treating her recovery as both a personal and a professional struggle. Asif Ali plays Govind Balakrishnan and Tovino Thomas plays Vishal Rajashekaran, with Sidhique as Pallavi's father Raveendran, Anarkali Marikar as her friend Sariya D'Costa and Prathap K. Pothan as a senior air traffic controller. The three Gangadharan sisters, Shenuga, Shegna and Sherga, produced the film, which carries the SCube Films and Grihalakshmi Productions banners. Parvathy wore prosthetic make-up by Dirty Hands Studio, Bangalore, for about 70 per cent of the film. It was shot in Kochi, Dhule and Agra, including at Sheroes Hangout, and released in theatres in April 2019.
