Siddique

More than 350 Malayalam films over four decades, plus roles in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi productions: that is the record of Siddique, born Siddique Mamathu in Kochi in 1962. He debuted in Aa Neram Alppa Dooram (1985) and spent most of the late 1980s in minor parts. In Harihar Nagar (1990) changed that. He was one of its four heroes, and its success brought a string of comic roles in early-1990s films such as Godfather, Thiruthalvaadi, Kasargode Khadarbhai and Welcome to Kodaikanal. His son Shaheen Siddique and his brother Abdul Majeed also act in Malayalam films. Asuravamsam and Lelam moved him towards serious parts, and his villain in Sathyameva Jayathe (2000) began a long run of antagonists; his range takes in comedy, romantic leads, anti-heroes and outright villains. Sasneham Sumitra and Choonda won him the Kerala State Film Award for Best Supporting Actor in 2004, and the Telugu film Naa Bangaaru Talli brought the Nandi Special Jury Award in 2013. He turned co-producer with Nandanam (2002) under the Bhavana Cinema banner. Later films include Ustad Hotel (2012), Pulimurugan (2016), Uyare (2019), 2018 (2023) and Rekhachithram (2025), and he has played Prabhakar in Drishyam (2013), Drishyam 2 (2021) and Drishyam 3 (2026).
