Unmadham (2026)
Unmadham is a Malayalam crime thriller directed by Kiran Das and written by Shahi Kabir. Shelly (Kunchacko Boban) is an unhappy police officer who wants to be a screenwriter. Money trouble brings him back to work after a year off, and after a mistake he is transferred to a remote station. There he finds an old file on the mysterious death of a young woman and starts investigating, hoping to turn it into a script. The police-station setting carries supernatural overtones and talk of a curse, and the director says the film is not a straight procedural, with comedy and emotional scenes. Lijomol Jose, Siddique, Sudheesh, Vishak Nair, Sabumon Abdusamad and Kottayam Nazeer are also in the cast. The film is the directorial debut of Kerala State award-winning editor Kiran Das, whose credits include Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum and Joji, and it reunites Shahi Kabir with Kunchacko Boban after Officer on Duty. Panorama Studios produces, with songs by Mujeeb Majeed and score by Justin Varghese. Unmadham released in theatres in July 2026 and streams on SonyLIV since 4 September 2026.
