From 'no change' to Diwali
Spirit was first dated for March 5, 2027, a date Vanga announced in January 2026 with a poster and a post from Prabhas. When reports of a delay surfaced in August, a T-Series spokesperson said there was "absolutely no change to the announced release date". The new date moves the film by almost eight months.
Before revealing it, Vanga told Prabhas's fans on X that he would share a new poster "featuring the man behind the shades" along with the new date. The poster arrives five days before Prabhas's birthday on October 23.
The film so far
Spirit is Vanga's first film since Animal (2023), and the first time he has worked with Prabhas. The first look, showing Prabhas with Triptii Dimri, came out on January 1, 2026, and the shoot began in November 2025.
Triptii Dimri, who was also in Animal, plays the female lead. Vivek Oberoi, who played the villain Bobby opposite Mohanlal in Prithviraj's Lucifer (2019), plays the main antagonist, and Aishwarya Desai is also in the cast.
T-Series backs the film. In Malayalam, the banner presented Kunchacko Boban's thriller Unmadham with Panorama Studios this year, and is reported to be presenting his next film too.
