Mujeeb Majeed

The soundtrack of the Hindi film Taal, heard at 14, is what made Mujeeb Majeed want to create music of his own, he says. He names A. R. Rahman as his main inspiration. Born in Thrissur on 21 September 1985, he grew up in a musical household: his grandfather taught himself percussion, and his uncles sang with troupes across Kerala. A composer, music arranger and singer, he works mostly in Malayalam cinema and lives and works in Kochi. His first break as a composer was the title track for the television show Hridayaragam, and he entered feature films as music director of Mandharam in 2018. For Thinkalazhcha Nishchayam, a National Award-winning film, he wrote both the songs and the background score in 2021. His score for the short film Pawssible won him the Kerala State Television Award for Best Music Director. More recent credits include Rekhachithram (2025) and two 2026 films, Unmadham and Pradhama Drishtiya Kuttakkar, the Parvathy Thiruvothu-led film now streaming on Netflix. Several upcoming Malayalam titles carry his music: Mayan, Jithin K Jose's thriller with Jayasurya as a police officer; Neekkam, Jagan Shaji Kailas's debut, with Dileep; and Padayaatra.
