Wunderbar Films marked Rajkumar Periasamy's birthday with a 38-second making video from OM. "Can't wait to show you all the world he has created, this November 20," the production house wrote on X.

What the video shows

The clip follows the director on set: beside the camera, at the monitor, and giving instructions to the cast and crew, at one point through a microphone. It closes with a "Happy Birthday Rajkumar Periasamy" card and the OM title card.

OM is led by Dhanush, with Mammootty in his Tamil outing, and Wunderbar Films is producing it. Sai Abhyankkar composes the music.

Mammootty also wished the director on X: "Happy Birthday Dear @Rajkumar_KP".

After Amaran

OM is Rajkumar's film after Amaran. He has spoken about how Mammootty came on board: the actor replied to his synopsis within 15 to 20 minutes but took months to commit. In OM, Mammootty plays Burma Karthikeyan, a smuggler known as Siya, and the second single, Veezha Veera, is already out.

Two weeks before Padayaatra

OM opens on November 20. Two weeks later, on December 4, Mammootty's Malayalam film with Adoor Gopalakrishnan, Padayaatra, reaches cinemas.

Rajkumar Periasamy's films so far

Rajkumar made his debut as director with Rangoon (2017), a Tamil crime thriller starring Gautham Karthik. His second film, Amaran, released on October 31, 2024. It told the story of Major Mukund Varadarajan, with Sivakarthikeyan as Mukund and Sai Pallavi as his wife. Amaran ended its run with a worldwide gross of about Rs 341.52 crore, according to trade site Koimoi, which listed it as the second highest-grossing Tamil film of 2024.

OM is only his third film, and his first with a star of Mammootty's stature.

Mammootty in Tamil

Mammootty has a long history in Tamil cinema. He starred with Rajinikanth in Mani Ratnam's Thalapathi (1991), and played Amudhavan, a father caring for his daughter, in Ram's Peranbu (2019). In OM, he shares the screen with Dhanush, whom the film is led by, and Sai Abhyankkar's music has already given it two singles.
