Jithu Madhavan's Scene has been certified U/A, and the Suriya film releases worldwide on November 6, Sony Music South announced on X on October 28.

The film's story did not start out with Suriya alone in the frame. In his Galatta Plus interview with Baradwaj Rangan, from 8:16, Jithu Madhavan said he first discussed the story with Fahadh Faasil, who liked it, and that he had a Fahadh and Nazriya Nazim pairing in mind at the time.

From a pairing to a Suriya film

Jithu explained that two stories were in discussion with Fahadh then, and Fahadh liked both. He told Fahadh he would write this one for Suriya, who he said was already on his mind, and went on to narrate it to the actor. The idea came to him during Aavesham, he said.

What changed is the scale and the language. A story once imagined around a Malayalam screen couple became a Tamil film led by Suriya as DSP Inbaraj. Nazriya is still in it, reportedly as Maya, and Naslen plays the villain, Eeswaran. Jithu said he wanted a new face as the villain, and that Naslen came to mind even though he was a hero after Premalu, and agreed once he heard the narration.

Jithu also drew a line between this film and his earlier work. He said his Malayalam films, even Romancham and Aavesham, which played out in Bangalore, stay rooted in Kerala through small details about how Malayalis live outside the state. Scene's story, by contrast, is one he described as regionless, without borders.

Fahadh and Nazriya on screen

The pair have acted together in two films. In Bangalore Days (2014), directed by Anjali Menon, Fahadh played Das and Nazriya played his wife, Kunju. They reunited in Anwar Rasheed's Trance (2020), where she played Esther Lopez.

Off screen, Nazriya has produced several Fahadh films through Fahadh Faasil and Friends, the banner they co-own, as per the on-screen credits. These include Varathan (2018), Kumbalangi Nights (2019), C U Soon (2020) and Jithu's own Aavesham (2024), which she produced with Anwar Rasheed and Fahadh.
