Jagadish, Mukesh, Siddique, and Ashokan Reunite in Comedy Survival Drama ‘Pathira Kurukkan’

Pathira Kurukkan has completed its shooting schedule. Directed by Jayesh Venugopal and produced by Sijo George under the Appayi Cinemas banner, the Malayalam film wrapped filming across locations in Ponnani and Edappal. Teaser, trailer, and release date announcements are expected in the coming weeks.

The film brings together the ‘In Harihar Nagar’ gang — Jagadish, Mukesh, Siddique, and Ashokan as its four lead characters — a combination that should raise immediate expectations for the comedy register, given what each of these actors brings to ensemble situations. The premise centres on four people from completely different walks of life who find themselves trapped together in a crisis, navigating survival with humour and emotional weight in equal measure. The makers describe it as a comedy drama with survival thriller elements — an unusual combination that, if the tonal balance holds, could find a strong audience.

Crew

Gopi Sundar composes the music — a name that consistently draws attention in Malayalam cinema regardless of the project’s scale. Selvakumar S handles cinematography and Athul Vijay edits. The screenplay is written by Sunil Karma and Nikhil Jinan.

The supporting cast is extensive: Indrans, Nirmal Palazhi, Vineeth Thattil, Riyas Narmakala, Sudheer Paravoor, and several others fill out what appears to be a densely populated ensemble. Action is choreographed by Ashraf Gurukkal and Vinod Prabhakar.

A mid-budget Malayalam comedy with four recognisable comic actors at its centre, Gopi Sundar on music, and a survival drama premise is a combination the market tends to receive well when the execution delivers. Post-production is now underway.
