Prabhas and Dhurandhar Director Aditya Dhar Hold Discussions for a High-Octane Pan-Indian Actioner

Two of Indian cinema’s biggest commercial names may be teaming up. After weeks of speculation, trade sources say director Aditya Dhar has held early creative meetings with Prabhas about a potential pan-Indian action film — a project that would aim squarely at both Hindi and Telugu audiences.

The timing suits both. Dhar is coming off a huge run with his spy thriller duology, Dhurandhar (2025) and Dhurandhar: The Revenge (2026), which crossed ₹1,000 crore worldwide and became one of the most successful Bollywood properties since the pandemic. A move into the South Indian market with Prabhas would be a natural next step for his blend of large-scale visuals and grounded action.

A scheduling puzzle

Turning the idea into an actual film won’t be quick. The script is still being kept under wraps at Dhar’s B62 Studios, and Prabhas is booked solid. He’s currently splitting dates between Hanu Raghavapudi’s period romance Fauzi, Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s violent actioner Spirit — in which he plays a ruthless cop — and the VFX-heavy Kalki 2898 AD Part 2 for Nag Ashwin.

With all three in active production or post, any Dhar–Prabhas film would realistically only start shooting around late 2027 or early 2028. Even so, the prospect alone has set expectations high, and distributors are expected to firm up talks over the coming months.

A shifting box office

The news lands as the South Indian box office crowns a new leader. Ram Charan’s Peddi, a sports drama from director Buchi Babu Sana built around cricket, wrestling and athletics, has overtaken Suriya’s Karuppu and its roughly ₹340-crore run to become 2026’s highest-grossing South Indian film so far.

That kind of pull is part of why Bollywood directors like Dhar are increasingly looking south for their biggest projects. If the early talks firm up into a deal, a Dhar–Prabhas film could become one of the most anticipated releases of the next few years.
