Kannada superstar Shivarajkumar has gone on record predicting that his Peddi co‑star Ram Charan will win a National Award for the film. The comment came during a media interaction held as part of the film’s promotional push ahead of its June 4 global release.
“I believe this film will get Ram Charan a National Award,” Shivarajkumar told reporters. “His physical transformation was incredible. He stayed completely dedicated to this role for nearly two years. He immersed himself in the character and acted with total honesty.”
Peddi is directed by National Award winner Buchi Babu Sana and produced by Venkata Satish Kilaru under Vriddhi Cinemas. Mythri Movie Makers and Sukumar Writings present the film. The Malayalam and Tamil versions will be distributed in Kerala and Tamil Nadu by Think Studios. Music is by A. R. Rahman, cinematography by Ratnavelu, and editing by Naveen Nooli.
Shivarajkumar on His Character and the Film’s Emotional Core
Shivarajkumar plays Gaur Naidu, a mentor figure. He described the character as having “a clear goal and strong motivation.” The relationship between Peddi and Gaur Naidu, he said, is built on “love, affection, and emotional bond” that will resonate with audiences. “The director has designed the character beautifully — it’s similar to a coach’s role,” he added.

The Kannada star also praised the technical team. “Ratnavelu’s visuals are beautiful. The climax is quite surprising — you need to watch it in a theatre to truly experience it,” he said. He noted that the film incorporates several sports, each one deeply tied to the story.
A Strong Supporting Cast and Upcoming Projects
Jagapathi Babu plays a key role alongside Ram Charan. Shivarajkumar called producer Satish “a passionate producer with excellent production values.” Production design is by Avinash Kolla, with marketing handled by First Show.
When asked about his own plans in Telugu cinema, Shivarajkumar said he is currently working on Gummadi Narsayya and Jailer 2. “If good scripts come my way, I would definitely like to do more Telugu films,” he said.
A National Award prediction from a veteran co‑star is rare before a film’s release. Whether Peddi lives up to that billing will be known when it hits screens on June 4.
