Several voices from the film industry have spoken about Vijay’s decision to step away from a lucrative acting career to enter politics full-time, and the latest to join that chorus is Ram Charan. While promoting his upcoming Telugu film Peddi, Ram Charan took a moment to acknowledge the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister’s sacrifice and commitment to public service.

“Vijay garu has come to public service when at the peak of his career and stardom. Being a film industry person, I am very proud about it,” Ram Charan said. He went on to congratulate both Vijay and the people of Tamil Nadu. The statement comes as Vijay — now widely referred to as Joseph Vijay — settles into his role as Chief Minister, a position he took after announcing a permanent retirement from cinema. Vijay himself had previously stated that politics is not a hobby for him and that he is fully dedicated to serving the public.

Ram Charan and Vijay have never shared screen space in a film, despite occasional speculation. Rumours of a cameo appearance by Ram Charan in Vijay’s Leo had circulated but never materialised. Meanwhile, Vijay’s final film Jana Nayagan remains unreleased, though fans continue to await it.

As for Ram Charan, all eyes are now on Peddi, directed by Buchi Babu Sana. The film features Ram Charan in a physically transformed role as an athlete, wrestler and cricketer, and carries significant anticipation due to its scale, budget and his rigorous preparation for the part.
