Sachin Tendulkar: Sanju Samson Should Be India’s T20 Captain

· 1 min read · No comments

Cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar has thrown his weight behind Sanju Samson as the ideal candidate to lead India in T20 cricket. With Suryakumar Yadav’s form dipping and age becoming a factor, discussions about his successor have intensified — and Tendulkar’s endorsement has added significant weight to the conversation.

“There are many great options in front of us. But if you ask me to choose one, I would pick Sanju. I really like his leadership style,” Tendulkar said. The Master Blaster went on to compare Samson’s captaincy to that of legendary skipper MS Dhoni — a comparison that stands as one of the biggest endorsements of Samson’s career.

T20 World Cup performance

Tendulkar’s remarks come after Samson’s extraordinary performances in the T20 World Cup, where his calm temperament in high-pressure matches caught the legend’s attention. Samson had earlier revealed that he frequently sought Tendulkar’s advice during his own rough patches, including times when he was out of form and benched. “I would constantly call him, and he would give me tips and advice,” Samson had said after winning the Player of the Tournament award in the World Cup final.

The day before the final, Tendulkar had personally called Samson, urging him to play without pressure — advice that clearly paid off. Now, with the endorsement coming full circle, the call for Samson to lead India in T20s has never been louder.
