The United Democratic Front (UDF) is basking in the glow of a massive victory in the Kerala Assembly elections, but the celebration is being shadowed by a growing debate over who will lead the state. While internal party discussions are underway, popular Malayalam actor Siddique has made his stance crystal clear: VD Satheesan is the only choice for the Kerala Chief Minister chair.
Siddique expressed his delight at the UDF’s performance but voiced serious concerns regarding “group politics” and power struggles. The actor credited the victory to a strong anti-incumbency wave against Pinarayi Vijayan’s policies, but emphasized that Satheesan’s leadership was the primary catalyst that won over the public.

“V.D. Satheesan stood firm. He predicted over 100 seats and didn’t bow to community leaders or external pressure,” Siddique noted. He warned the Congress high command that any attempt to overlook VD Satheesan as Kerala Chief Minister in favor of other leaders would be met with significant public backlash. The actor’s tone was unusually firm, stating that the people’s mandate was specifically for Satheesan’s vision and that “no one else should be elevated to the post.”
Siddique went as far as to say that it is difficult to imagine anyone else in the role right now, remarking that even a figure like Rahul Gandhi couldn’t replace the local confidence Satheesan has built. He urged the leadership to listen to the “sentiments of ordinary people” rather than just the opinions of those within the party’s inner circles.

The Congress-led UDF secured a decisive win, ending the LDF’s decade-long run, but the challenge now lies in navigating these internal leadership dynamics without alienating the voters. As the capital stays abuzz with meetings, Siddique’s public endorsement adds a layer of celebrity-backed pressure on the AICC observers.
