‘Vishwanath & Sons’: Suriya’s Family Drama Locks Release Date

· 1 min read · No comments

The first‑look poster, featuring Suriya cradling a child, confirmed that the actor’s next venture, Vishwanath & Sons, will hit theatres on 14 August 2026. The image, released by the film’s producers, was captioned “A wholesome entertainer packed with emotions, humour and heart‑warming family moments” and instantly trended on social media.

Venky Atluri, returning to direction after his blockbuster Lucky Baskhar with Dulquer Salmaan, heads the project. The family drama is produced by Suryadevara Naga Vamsi and Sai Soujanya under their banner, with G V Prakash handling the music, Nimish Ravi on cinematography, Naveen Nooli editing, and Banglan overseeing production design.

Mamitha Baiju, fresh from her breakout role in Premalu, has been confirmed as the female lead. Veteran actors Radhika Sarathkumar and Raveena Tandon join the cast in pivotal supporting roles, adding further gravitas to the ensemble. Distribution in Tamil Nadu will be managed by Think Studios, ensuring a wide release across the state’s multiplexes and single‑screen theatres.

Anticipation builds

The film follows Suriya’s recent success with RJ Balaji’s Karuppu, which became the highest‑grossing Tamil film of 2026. While Karuppu leaned into fantasy‑action, Vishwanath & Sons promises a more grounded narrative centred on inter‑generational relationships and the everyday challenges of a joint family.

Industry observers note that the August release positions the film squarely in the lucrative monsoon window, traditionally reserved for family‑oriented fare. If the early buzz translates into ticket sales, the project could reinforce Suriya’s reputation for balancing commercial blockbusters with content‑driven cinema.

The official teaser, scheduled for release next week, will likely reveal more about the story’s tone and the chemistry between Suriya and his on‑screen child, setting the stage for what many are already calling a “vintage‑charm” comeback for the star.
