The wait is finally over for fans of Arya. The actor’s upcoming Tamil-Malayalam bilingual action thriller Ananthan Kaadu has officially secured a worldwide theatrical release date of June 25, 2026. The makers took to social media on Monday to announce the date, sharing a fresh poster that features the film’s principal cast in a striking, moody composition.
Directed by Jiyen Krishnakumar and written by the acclaimed Murali Gopy, Ananthan Kaadu marks the duo’s return to collaboration after their earlier film Tiyaan, which starred Prithviraj Sukumaran and Indrajith Sukumaran. That film, released in 2017, was noted for its ambitious narrative and layered storytelling. With Ananthan Kaadu, the team appears to be aiming for a similar blend of intensity and depth, this time within the action thriller genre.
Bilingual project
The film is particularly notable for its multilingual approach. Arya plays a Tamilian character, and the story itself is positioned as a bilingual project that will release in both Tamil and Malayalam. The casting reflects this cross-industry ambition, bringing together a rich ensemble spanning both film industries. Alongside Arya, the cast includes Vijayaraghavan, Murali Gopy himself, Sunil, Achyuth Kumar, Regina Cassandra, Santhy Balachandran, Nikhila Vimal, Dev Mohan, Sagar Surya, Saritha Kukku, Indrans, Siddique, Renji Panicker and Appani Sarath. It is an unusually deep roster, with several veteran actors lending weight to the supporting roles.
On the technical front, the film has assembled a formidable team. Cinematography is handled by S Yuva, whose visual work is expected to bring the dense forest setting — suggested by the title — to life. Editing is by Rohit VS Variyath, while the music is composed by B Ajaneesh Loknath, who shot to pan-Indian fame with his electrifying background score and songs for the Kantara franchise. Given the action thriller billing, Loknath’s involvement is a strong indicator of the film’s sonic ambition.

Ananthan Kaadu is jointly produced by S Vinod Kumar’s Mini Studios and Arya’s own production banner, The Show People. This marks one of the first major releases under Arya’s production house, adding a personal stake for the actor in the film’s success.
Arya was last seen in Manu Anand’s spy action thriller Mr X, which also featured Manju Warrier, Gautham Ram Karthik and R Sarath Kumar. While that film had a mixed reception, Ananthan Kaadu appears to be a more focused, genre-driven outing, and the involvement of Murali Gopy as writer suggests a narrative with thematic heft beneath the action.
With its June 25 release date now locked, the film is expected to ramp up promotions in the coming weeks. Given its bilingual nature and ensemble cast, Ananthan Kaadu could be one of the more interesting theatrical releases of the summer.
