Anirudh Ravichander turned up unannounced at a first-day-first-show of Jailer 2 on October 15, and the fans had a surprise of their own. At Vettri Theatres in Chennai, they brought out a birthday cake for him a day early. His birthday falls on October 16, and he cut the cake with the crowd.
He arrived in a T-shirt printed with lyrics from "Hukum", and got a loud welcome from the fans' show.
Anirudh turns 36 today. Sun Pictures, which produced Jailer 2, posted a birthday video for him on X, calling him "the storm of music, the hit machine".

A birthday with a hit score
It was a fitting way to start his birthday. Anirudh's background score for the first Jailer drew wide attention, and he returns as composer for the sequel. During promotions, he said he had composed a separate musical theme for each major character.
The critics have backed him too. Even in the harshest of the four reviews in our Jailer 2 critics' roundup, the reviewer said it was Rajinikanth and Anirudh who try to salvage the film.
Praise from peers
The industry has been crediting him as well. When Kamal Haasan congratulated the team on release day, he named Anirudh alongside Rajinikanth and director Nelson. Venkat Prabhu also thanked Nelson and Anirudh in his post on the film.
