Jailer 2 has crossed ₹549 crore worldwide in its first week, according to producer Sun Pictures. The studio posted the figure on X on October 22, calling it "the highest-grossing first week collections in Tamil cinema history". That remains the only official number for the Rajinikanth film. Sun Pictures did not say how many days the figure covers, and it has shared no daily or opening-day number since.

We covered that announcement in our first-week story. This page tracks the film day by day and will be updated as new figures come in.

Release details

Jailer 2 released worldwide on October 15, 2026, in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi. The Hindi version is titled Rajini the Jailer. The film's opening in Kerala is covered in our Kerala advance booking tracker, and its early North America run in our report on the $2 million mark.

Trade estimates

The figures below are estimates from the trade tracker Sacnilk, not official numbers. Sacnilk's own disclaimer says its data can be approximate, and it has revised earlier days before. All amounts are in ₹ crore. India net and India gross are that day's figures, Kerala is the day's gross, and worldwide is the running gross total.

Day: India net (day) | India gross (day) | Kerala gross (day) | Worldwide gross (total), ₹ crore, Sacnilk estimates

Day 1 (Thu, Oct 15): India net 59.70 | India gross 70.25 | Kerala gross 12.70 | Worldwide total 127.25

Day 2 (Fri, Oct 16): India net 37.10 | India gross 43.40 | Kerala gross 7.90 | Worldwide total 210.65

Day 3 (Sat, Oct 17): India net 47.25 | India gross 55.35 | Kerala gross 8.85 | Worldwide total 321.00

Day 4 (Sun, Oct 18): India net 55.85 | India gross 65.25 | Kerala gross 10.75 | Worldwide total 424.25

Day 5 (Mon, Oct 19): India net 42.35 | India gross 49.50 | Kerala gross 8.00 | Worldwide total 477.75

Day 6 (Tue, Oct 20): India net 46.80 | India gross 54.70 | Kerala gross 7.40 | Worldwide total 542.45

Day 7 (Wed, Oct 21): India net 28.15 | India gross 33.00 | Kerala gross 4.75 | Worldwide total 576.45

Day 8 (Thu, Oct 22): India net 17.15 | India gross 20.10 | Kerala gross 2.20 | Worldwide total 606.05

Day 9 (Fri, Oct 23): India net 14.50 | India gross 17.00 | Kerala gross 2.00 | Worldwide total 628.05

Day 10 (Sat, Oct 24): India net 24.15 | India gross 28.25 | Kerala gross 2.75 | Worldwide total 666.30

Day 11 (Sun, Oct 25): India net 25.70 | India gross 30.05 | Kerala gross 3.30 | Worldwide total 710.35

Day 12 (Mon, Oct 26): India net 9.45 | India gross 11.00 | Kerala gross 1.25 | Worldwide total 733.35

Totals after Day 12, per Sacnilk: India net 408.15, India gross 477.85, Kerala gross 71.85 and worldwide gross 733.35, of which 255.50 is from overseas. The Day 12 figures are early and may be revised.

Two cautions apply. First, Sacnilk's "week 1" covers eight days, not seven (India net 334.35, India gross 391.55). Its seven-day worldwide estimate of 576.45 is higher than Sun Pictures' 549+, so the trade estimates and the official figure do not match. Second, other trackers publish their own numbers, and these vary from Sacnilk's.

What the numbers show

The opening day is still the film's biggest in India, at 59.70 net. Collections fell on the first Friday, then built up through the weekend to 55.85 on Day 4. Weekday India net stayed above 42 on Days 5 and 6, then dropped to 28.15 on Day 7, and the second week opened lower still.

The second weekend has steadied the run. India net went from 14.50 on Day 9 to 25.70 on Day 11, roughly 1.8 times the Friday figure. Kerala accounts for about 15% of the India gross so far, and overseas makes up about a third of the worldwide total.

For Malayali viewers, part of the draw is the cast: Mohanlal plays Mathew, with Suraj Venjaramoodu as the villain. Read our Jailer 2 review for more on the film, and the Jailer (2023) page for the original.
