The Malayali cast
Mohanlal returns as Mathew, the role that won him applause in the first film. Suraj Venjaramoodu is one of the film's villains, introduced in a character teaser that showed him stepping out of a car with a cigar. Hakim Shahjahan, Kottayam Nazeer, Shamna Kasim, Rajesh Madhavan, Sujith Shanker and Sunil Sukhada are also part of the cast, reports suggest.
Rajinikanth is back as Tiger Muthuvel Pandian. Nelson Dilipkumar writes and directs, and Anirudh Ravichander composes the music. SJ Suryah, Mithun Chakraborty, Vidya Balan, Ramya Krishnan and Yogi Babu round out the main cast.
Release day
Reports put the worldwide release at about 7,000 screens. In Kerala, Ragam in Thrissur is among the screens running 24-hour marathon shows on day one.
We will not report collections until the makers or the distributor confirm them.
Suraj Venjaramoodu's journey
Suraj began in comedy and has built a run of acclaimed roles. He won the National Film Award for Best Actor for Perariyathavar, sharing it with Rajkumar, and the Kerala State Film Award for Best Actor in 2019 for Android Kunjappan Version 5.25 and Vikruthi. He made his Tamil debut with Veera Dheera Sooran (2025).
The first Jailer
Jailer released on August 10, 2023, and began streaming on Prime Video on September 7 that year. Rajinikanth played Tiger Muthuvel Pandian, with Ramya Krishnan as his wife Vijayalakshmi, Mohanlal as Mathew, Shiva Rajkumar as Narasimha and Vinayakan as the villain Varman. Anirudh composed the music for that film too.
The film grossed about Rs 606 crore worldwide, according to trade trackers. That figure is the benchmark the sequel is measured against, but the makers have not shared any numbers for Jailer 2.
