Audiences going to Jailer 2 at PVR and AGS screens are getting a look at another big Tamil release first. Vels Film International says the teaser of Nayanthara's Mookuthi Amman 2 is playing on the big screen at both chains before Jailer 2 shows. The sequel, directed by Sundar C, opens in theatres for Diwali on November 6.

Film: Mookuthi Amman 2 - Mahasakthi
Language: Tamil
Director: Sundar C
Lead: Nayanthara
Music: Hiphop Tamizha
Producer: Ishari K Ganesh (Vels Film International)
Release: November 6, 2026 (Diwali)
From OTT to the big screen
The first Mookuthi Amman never had a theatrical run. Directed by RJ Balaji and NJ Saravanan, with Balaji also in the lead alongside Nayanthara, it was set for a May 2020 theatrical release. The pandemic changed that, and it premiered on Disney+ Hotstar for Diwali on November 14, 2020.
The sequel is built for cinemas. Sundar C takes over as director from Balaji, and Hiphop Tamizha, a regular Sundar C collaborator, scores the music. Attaching the teaser to Jailer 2 puts it in front of large first-week crowds a little over three weeks before release.
A Thiruvalla girl as the goddess
For Malayali viewers, Nayanthara is still one of their own. Born Diana Mariam Kurian, she grew up partly in Thiruvalla, where her family settled, and studied at Mar Thoma College there before Sathyan Anthikad cast her in Manassinakkare (2003). Two decades on, she returns as the goddess in a festival release.
A Diwali date with Scene
Mookuthi Amman 2 shares its November 6 date with Suriya's Scene, directed by Jithu Madhavan, which is also getting a Gulf release on the same day. That sets up a Diwali face-off between two Tamil stars.
