Jailer (2023)
Jailer is a Tamil action comedy directed by Nelson Dilipkumar under the Sun Pictures banner. Rajinikanth plays 'Tiger' Muthuvel Pandian, a retired jailer whose son Arjun (Vasanth Ravi), a police officer, goes missing during an investigation while the family begins to face threats. Muthuvel sets out after Varman (Vinayakan), an eccentric idol smuggler. Ramya Krishnan plays his wife Vijaya, and Yogi Babu appears as Vimal, a taxi driver. Jackie Shroff, Shiva Rajkumar, Tamannaah Bhatia, Indukuri Sunil Varma, G. Marimuthu, Ganesh Janardhanan and Redin Kingsley are also in the cast. The film is the first collaboration between Nelson Dilipkumar and Rajinikanth. It was shot at locations including Adityaram Studios in Chennai, Ramoji Film City in Hyderabad, Cuddalore, Jaisalmer, Mangalore and Athirappilly Falls in Kerala. Malayalam director Sakkir Madathil challenged the title, but both films released as Jailer, and the Delhi High Court ordered edits to a scene showing a contract killer in an RCB jersey. It released in theatres in August 2023 and streams on Prime Video.
