Ramya Krishnan, who plays Rajinikanth's wife Viji in the Jailer films, watched Jailer 2 with fans on release day and came out talking about a third film. "They responded as we expected for all the high moments. Jailer Part 3 is ready," she said.
She also praised director Nelson Dilipkumar. "I wondered how the director would be able to beat the first film, but he has done wonders. Superb. Rajinikanth was rocking," she said.
Dhanush also took to social media, calling the film a "must watch" for Rajinikanth's fans.
A sequel talked up, and one walked away from
The timing is striking. On the same day, Mohanlal's costume designer Jishad Shamsudeen said he would not be part of any further sequel, after three of Mohanlal's looks were cut from the film. So within hours, one member of the Jailer team was cheering a Part 3 while another ruled himself out of it.
No Jailer 3 has been announced. Ramya's line was a reaction to the audience in the hall, not a confirmation from the makers.
Ramya and Rajini, again
The pairing goes back well before Jailer. Ramya Krishnan and Rajinikanth shared the screen in Padaiyappa (1999). In Jailer (2023), she played Viji, the wife of his retired jailer Muthuvel Pandian, and she returns in the role in the sequel.
