Jailer 2's Tiger Muthuvel Pandian theme by Anirudh is now on music apps

Anirudh, who composed a separate theme for each major character, shared Rajinikanth's theme with a two-word line: Yen paeru.

The "Tiger Muthuvel Pandian" background score from Jailer 2 is now out as a standalone track. Sun Pictures released it on all audio platforms today, and Anirudh Ravichander shared it with a short line: "Yen paeru.."

A theme for each character

Tiger Muthuvel Pandian is Rajinikanth's character, back from the first Jailer. During promotions, Anirudh said he had composed a separate musical theme for each major character in the sequel.

Anirudh's background score for the first Jailer drew wide attention, and critics singled him out again for the sequel.

The Malayali connection

Sun Pictures' post tags the cast, including Suraj Venjaramoodu, who plays the villain Dileep. Mohanlal returns as Mathew from the first film, as covered in our release-day story.

Where Tiger Muthuvel Pandian began

Rajinikanth first played Tiger Muthuvel Pandian, a retired jailer, in Nelson Dilipkumar's Jailer, which released on August 10, 2023. Sun Pictures produced that film too, and it later streamed on Prime Video. Mohanlal's cameo as Mathew and Shiva Rajkumar's as Narasimha became talking points, and Vinayakan played the villain, Varman.

Anirudh's music was a big part of that success. Kaavaalaa became one of the year's biggest Tamil songs, and Hukum turned into the film's anthem. Releasing the sequel's hero theme as its own track follows the same idea: let fans play the BGM outside the theatre.

Nelson and Anirudh

Jailer 2 is another Nelson-Anirudh collaboration. Anirudh has scored every Nelson film so far, from Kolamaavu Kokila (2018) to Doctor (2021), Beast (2022) and the first Jailer. Their partnership is a big reason the Jailer films sound the way they do.

For Malayali viewers, the sequel keeps the Kerala link strong, with Suraj Venjaramoodu taking the villain's role and Mohanlal back as Mathew.

Anirudh's work with Sun Pictures goes beyond Nelson. He also scored Rajinikanth's Petta (2019) and Coolie (2025), and Dhanush's Thiruchitrambalam (2022), for the studio.

The first Jailer began streaming on Prime Video on September 7, 2023, less than a month after it opened in theatres.
