Jailer 2 action director Chethan D'Souza has said that Mohanlal did the climax car scene himself. He gave the answer in a reply on Instagram, the latest turn in a week of questions over Mohanlal's part in the film.

Under Chethan's post thanking cinematographer Vijay Kartik Kannan, a fan asked whether Mohanlal really did the car scene in the climax or whether a double stood in. Chethan replied, "It's him."

The same fan also asked why Mohanlal's intro was trimmed. Chethan did not answer that part, since only the makers can. The makers have still not commented on the cut scenes, including a shot seen in the trailer.

How the week unfolded

On October 15, release day, mimicry artist Joby Kodakara posted about doubling for Mohanlal in the film. He later deleted the post.

Azad Kannadikkal then explained how body doubles work, and blamed Joby's post for trolls claiming all of Mohanlal's portions were done by a double.

Next came Mohanlal's costume designer, Jishad Shamsudeen, who said three of the actor's looks were cut from the film. He later softened his stance.

Now the action director has answered the double question for the climax scene.

Joby has also given his side. In an interview with Jango Space TV, he said only one or two of his shots were used, showing his hand and foot as the car is driven in the climax airport scene, and that his face is not in the film. Those would be insert shots, which sits with Chethan's answer about Mohanlal.

Not his first clarification

Chethan, who came to Jailer 2 via Aavesham, has cleared up a rumour before. He said earlier that the blast in the trailer was shot for real and not made with CGI.
