Jailer 2 has grossed "549+ crores worldwide" in its first week, Sun Pictures announced on October 22. The production house called it "the highest-grossing first week collections in Tamil cinema history" and labelled the film an "Industry Mega Blockbuster".

The official figure
The ₹549 crore-plus figure is Sun Pictures' own worldwide gross for the film's first seven days since its October 15 release. For comparison, Sun Pictures had put the first-week worldwide gross of Jailer (2023) at ₹375.40 crore-plus (tentative).
The film
Nelson Dilipkumar directs Rajinikanth in the sequel, with music by Anirudh Ravichander. Vidya Balan plays Kantha, SJ Suryah plays Bodhi Kalpak and Mithun Chakraborty plays his father, Chakri Kalpak. Ramya Krishnan (Viji Pandian) and Yogi Babu (Vimal) return from the first film.
The Malayali side
Suraj Venjaramoodu plays Dileep in the film, a role that needed a prosthetic makeover, and Mohanlal has a cameo, reprising his role as Mathew. The film's action director has said Mohanlal did the climax car scene himself.
Earlier, the North American distributor reported that the film had crossed $2 million in North America.
Rajinikanth watches with fans
On October 24, Sun Pictures posted a 30-second video on X with the line: "For the first time in 40 years, Superstar Rajinikanth joins fans to witness #Jailer2 on the big screen!" The post did not name the theatre. It repeated the "Industry Mega Blockbuster" tag but gave no new collection figure, so ₹549 crore-plus remains the latest official number.
