The family of the late Salim Kumar visited AB Manzil, the Kochi home of the late Cochin Haneefa's family. His wife Sunitha went with their sons Chandu and Aaromal to meet the family of her husband's close friend.

Salim Kumar died of a cardiac arrest in Kochi on June 6, 2026. Cochin Haneefa died in Chennai on February 2, 2010.

Photos from the visit were shared on Instagram by Firoz Maliyakkal.

A comedy pair on screen

Salim Kumar and Cochin Haneefa shared the screen in Pulival Kalyanam, where Salim played Manavalan and Haneefa played Dharmendra. They were also together in Mazhathullikkilukkam (2002), as Mayandi and Mathukkutty, and in Kunjikoonan (2002), as Chandran and Thoma. Salim also recalled his scenes with Haneefa in CID Moosa.

Salim had spoken before about Haneefa. "I have acted with a lot of people in my life, but the comfort of acting with Cochin Haneefa, I have not got with anyone else," he had said. "If I was the one shining when we acted together, he had no problem with it. He would only support it."

He had also explained why he stayed away after Haneefa's death: "I didn't go to see Hanifka when he died. I didn't even watch it on TV, because I can't bear to see him lying dead like that. Even now I laugh when I watch his films."

AB Manzil

Haneefa's family moved into the house on Ambedkar Road in Vennala in July 2026. It is named after his father, A.B. Mohammed, reportedly a wish Haneefa had held for years.
