Shine Tom Chacko

For close to a decade before he acted properly, Shine Tom Chacko assisted director Kamal, and in that stretch he was briefly glimpsed as a bus passenger in Nammal (2002). Born in Thrissur on 15 September 1983, he took a B.Com from St. Thomas College in the same city. His first real acting credit came in Kamal's Gaddama (2011), as a migrant worker held in harsh conditions in a Saudi desert. Malayalam films remain his main ground, with roles in Tamil and Telugu cinema as well. Supporting parts in Ee Adutha Kaalathu, Chapters and Annayum Rasoolum led to Ithihasa (2014), a body-swap fantasy comedy that gave him his first lead and a hit. A negative role in Kammatipaadam (2016) drew notice. He led Who (2018), described as the first Malayalam time-travel film, and played the moral-policing Alwin in Ishq (2019), which won him the SIIMA Award for Best Actor in a Negative Role. Unda, Operation Java, Kurup and Bheeshma Parvam followed. Beast (2022) took him into Tamil cinema, Dasara (2023) into Telugu. Of late he has played journalist Jeeven Thomas in Oru Anweshanathinte Thudakkam (2024) and Columbus in Adinaasam Vellapokkam (2025), and appeared in Dhoomakethu (2026). Still to come is Bachelor Party D'eux, in which he plays Guru.
