Dulquer Salmaan is coming home for Onam. I’m Game, his first Malayalam film since King of Kotha in 2023, has been confirmed for a worldwide theatrical release on August 20 — right in the heart of the Onam window. The announcement came on Wednesday from Wayfarer Films, alongside a new poster showing Dulquer at the centre of a cheering crowd.
Directed by Nahas Hidhayath, who announced himself forcefully with the 2023 action film RDX, I’m Game is an action thriller with a story written by Nahas himself. The screenplay is co-written by Bilal Moidu, Ismail Aboobacker, and Sajeer Baba, with dialogues by Shahabas Rasheed and Aadarsh Sukumaran. Post-production, including dubbing, is currently underway.
A Cast Worth Noting
The ensemble has some interesting pieces. Antony Varghese Pepe, who broke through in RDX, returns to work with Nahas in a pivotal role — a continuation of what is clearly a productive director-actor relationship. Tamil filmmaker Mysskin makes his Malayalam acting debut here, which is the kind of casting detail that tends to generate its own conversation. Tamil actor Kathir, Kayadu Lohar, and Samyuktha Viswanathan round out the key roles.
Technical credits are solid across the board: Jimshi Khalid on cinematography, Jakes Bejoy composing the score, Chaman Chakko editing, and Anbariv handling action choreography — the same duo behind some of Tamil cinema’s more ambitious action sequences in recent years.
I’m Game is produced by Dulquer and Jom Varghese under Wayfarer Films, the banner Dulquer has used to build a specific kind of Malayalam production — commercially ambitious, technically well-resourced. The film will release in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, and Kannada alongside Malayalam.
Onam 2026 is shaping up as a serious battleground. Dulquer returning to Malayalam cinema after three years, in an action thriller from the director of RDX, is exactly the kind of release the window was made for.
